Fingerprint images are extremely dependent on the condition and correct placement of the finger. Fingerprint images are easily distorted and this confuses the scanner unit. Hand readings are NOT affected by the condition of the hand.
Finger print scanners have difficulty recognizing fingerprints that are not deep enough. Handpunch readers do not take into consideration the surface of the hand. (i.e. finger prints)
